Public Records Request

Requests for public records are available through the Air Quality Records Management staff. All requests must clearly state the records sought. If the records request is vague or broad in nature, records management may ask for further clarification or for the requester to be more specific about the records that are being requested.

Standard Information

Records may be requested using Air Quality public records request forms, or by providing a written request with the following information:
  • Requester's first and last name
  • Requester's business/company name if applicable
  • Requester's address or business address
  • Requester's phone number and email address
  • Record being requested (list business name, business address, and permit number if known)
  • Document what the records are requested for
  • Document if the records are Commercial or Non-Commercial (see Commercial Record Request Definition, below)
  • Indicate whether copies are being requested or if you wish to inspect the record in person (see Scheduling a Public File Review, below)

Commercial Record Request Definition

'Commercial purpose' is defined as:
"The use of a public record for the purpose of sale or resale or for the purpose of producing a document containing all or part of the copy, printout or photograph for sale or the obtaining of names and addresses from such public record for the purpose of solicitation or the sale of such names and addresses to another for the purpose of solicitation or for any purpose in which the purchaser can reasonably anticipate the receipt of monetary gain from direct or indirect use of such public records." (A.R.S. 39-121.03[D])

Scheduling a Public File Review

  1. Submit a records request in writing to Air Quality records management.
  2. Air Quality will contact you to schedule a file review appointment.
    • The appointment will be scheduled at the next available date and time when resources are available to fulfill the request.
