Report a Code Violation

The Maricopa County Planning and Development Department, Code Compliance Division only has jurisdiction over zoning violations in the unincorporated areas of Maricopa County. Access contact information for other jurisdictions.

Code Compliance actions are governed by Chapter 15 of the Maricopa County Zoning Ordinance (PDF) as enabled under Title 11 of the Arizona Revised Statutes. The goal of the Code Compliance Division is to gain voluntary compliance with codes and regulations from property owners.

Filing a complaint is a formal method of notifying the Code Compliance Division of possible building code and/or zoning violations on a specific property. Complaints must be in writing or online and all information about you remains confidential until and unless the violation case proceeds to court.

Track a Violation Case


Your complaint will be received and entered into the Code Compliance computer system within 2 working days. A code inspector will inspect the property within 30 days. A tracking number will be assigned to all violation cases. You may track the status of a violation case.
