[ARCHIVED] Maricopa County Adapts Operations to COVID-19 Pandemic

Covid

PHOENIX— Maricopa County is making changes to business operations daily as the situation related to COVID-19 evolves. Essential government functions will continue as we move a large percentage of our employees to working from home. Please take note of the following:

  • The Board of Supervisors regularly scheduled formal meeting will not be open to the public on Wednesday at 9:30am. The public can view the meeting at Maricopa.gov or on YouTube. Or participate through Gotowebinar.com using ID 817-430-739. To listen by phone, dial 562-247-8422 and use the access code 779-355-681. More information is here from the Clerk of the Board.
  • Maricopa County Parks remain open during this time and the governor has declared them an essential operation. We have 596 miles of trails so there is plenty of room to spread out, but the parking lots have been crowded. Please practice patience, social distancing and trail etiquette. Consider moving to another trailhead as needed to avoid congestion.
  • Animal Care and Control continues to try and limit the numbers of people moving through the shelters while saving the same number of animals. This week adoptions and fostering services are by appointment only. They also have a large adoption event starting today. Get more information here
  • The customer service lobby at Planning and Development located at 501 N. 44th Street, Suite 200 is closing to in-person service this week. Planning and DevelopmentEnvironmental Services, and Air Quality all normally issue permits at this location and have instructions for customers on their web pages. More information on permitting departments can be found here.
  • Office of Communications is leading a Joint Information Center to support County operations. As a member of the media, please reach out to the team via CAOmedia@maricopa.gov and your request will be assigned to the appropriate public information officer.

Members of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors and County leadership receive regular updates from Public Health, Human Services and all other departments on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Following federal and state direction, much of the County workforce is working remotely at least part-time while the County maintains essential services. The health and safety of our workers is top of mind during these trying times.
