One-to-One Resume Assistance Helps Job Seeker Find Employment

Job seeker

Finding a good job can be difficult at the best of times. Debbie had the extra challenge of starting her search after being unemployed due to health concerns. When she finally was able to return to work, she turned to the Workforce Development Division of the Maricopa County Human Services Department for guidance.

Like a handshake, a resume is an opportunity for a job seeker to introduce themselves to a potential employer. To make sure that Debbie was able to make the best first impression, her first step on her path to a new position was to create a resume. Workforce Development staff recommended that she participate in one-to-one assistance.

The coaching that Workforce Development provided helped her understand the importance of creating customized resumes. With one-to-one assistance from a trainer, Debbie learned how to create resumes and cover letters targeted to a specific position. She was able to showcase how her unique skills and experience would match the job descriptions of the positions she was considering.

Debbie has applied for and landed interviews for several jobs using this targeted approach. She received job offers as a Bingo attendant at Gila River Casino and as an administrative assistant at a Burger King franchise. Debbie is now on her way to a new career and better future thanks to the extra time and attention she received from the staff at the Workforce Development Division.

This is one of the many ways that the expert team at the Workforce Development Division of the Maricopa County Human Services Department is helping people across Maricopa County connect to meaningful and rewarding career opportunities.
