The Maricopa County Department of Transportation encourages drivers to follow these safety tips to stay safe on the roads during the storm:

• Do not attempt to drive through flooded roadways

• Slow down and add extra distance between your vehicle and the car in front of you

• If your windshield wipers are on, your headlights should be too

• Do not use cruise control

• Don't break of steer abruptly

• If you start to hydroplane, step off the gas and steer gently in the direction you wish to go
